Transportation Outreach Planner
The Miami-Dade TPO created the Transportation Outreach Planner to review the social, economic, and geographic characteristics of an area before public involvement efforts are initiated for a project or study. This tool includes an interactive mapping and reporting feature called the “Demographic Reporting Tool”, which is complemented by Community Background Reports and Public Involvement Strategies. Together, these three easy-to-use components ensure a comprehensive outreach effort is accomplished for any area within Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties.
Do you have more questions concerning the Transportation Outreach Planner site? Contact Elizabeth Rockwell by email or at 305-375-1881.
Public Participation Plan
Public Involvement (PI) is an integral process that tries to involve all persons in a community, regardless of race, income, or status being affected positively or negatively by a future transportation project. PI is two-way communication aimed at incorporating the views, concerns, and issues of the public into the transportation decision making process, and it is on-going in all phases of a project. It allows the public to hear and be heard. This Public Participation Plan (PPP) is a dynamic document that, as per 23 CFR 450.316(1), “defines a process for providing citizens, affected public agencies, representatives of public transportation employees, freight shippers, providers of freight transportation services, private providers of transportation, representatives of users of public transportation, representatives of users of pedestrian walkways and bicycle transportation facilities, representatives of the disabled, and other interested parties with reasonable opportunities to be involved in the Metropolitan transportation planning process.”
